An immunochromatographic test for Giardia and Cryptosporidium parvum antigens in the faeces of dogs and cats. Giardia is one of the most common intestinal parasites (about 10% of dogs and cats are carriers), and infection is often latent; humans can also be infected. Cryptosporidium parvum causes cryptosporidiosis (also zoonotic). Both agents produce mucous, mushy diarrhoea and vomiting with similar symptoms — the test is especially useful for mixed infections or when it is unclear which agent caused the diarrhoea.
A confirmatory analysis is recommended after positive results of some tests.
